A Wise Woman

Calvary greetings to you in Jesus name. The case study we have in the text above is that of Sis. Abigail, the wife of Nabal. Abigail’s life was difficult, her husband was harsh and evil in his doings, so she had reasons to have walked out of her marriage, but she stayed in there. God hates divorce. Yet Abigail was a woman of good understanding (1Sam. 25:3). She was wise, respectful, and obviously kept her heart right before the Lord. When her husband played the fool, she didn’t try to change his behavior, but she did intervene. She didn’t allow Mr. Nabal to stain her garment or tarnish her good reputation before God and man. She was approachable. She had a listening ear, which must have brought her into a good relationship with her household, including the servants in her home. She was the wife of a rich man, yet she was accessible and simple. What a pointer to her life of humility. She could be trusted with vital issues as such pertaining to her husband’s evil act without losing her countenance; this is not because it gladdens her.
Her husband’s evil action towards David was related to her without a solution, she could have possibly picked up few of her belongings and ran for her dear life, but wisdom thought her what to do. She doesn’t take information for granted. Sister, how much of the information and revelations made available to you have you rightly applied? She did not belittle the servant or his words regardless of her high status, but acted immediately on it. We can see from scriptures how she arose, without being pre-informed.
Though a ‘woman of status’, she rose. Her rising is as a result of her love for her husband and her household. She had set her priorities right by placing her household at the top; this is seen in that she left other matters to attend to the salvation of her household by attending to them first. She could not stand aside from her husband or deny him at such a time as that, even without his consent. It would have been a time of vengeance for her on Nabal, if she had kept occasions of hurt in her heart. Vengeance is of the Lord. Sister, you need to always stand by your friends and families especially when the storm of life is blowing regardless of their ways. Abigail stood in the gap as an intercessor between her household and David. As a sister, God expect you to be wise and to intercede for your household members before the Him your Lord at all times. God bless your heart.
- Lord, thank you for your word, for it is a light unto my path.
- Lord Jesus, humble me and grant me the Spirit of meekness
- Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me Bess you…
