Matthew 21:18-19 [NIV]

Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.

It is dangerous to be a road-sided Christian at such a time as this. The seeds that fell by the road side in Matt 13:4 was said to be picked up by the devil and devoured. Why?  It was in the most unsecured place. Today, we see not a seed; but a tree by the road side. How the seed of that tree escaped being picked we do not know, but what is clear to us is that even if a seed escapes being picked and grows to become a tree; if it is by the road side, it has no tomorrow.

Road side is no favourable place for the germination and prosperity of any plant.

Road side is no favourable place for the germination and prosperity of any plant. Men can step on it. The soil would be lacking in nutrients. It will be exposed to too much heat and light of the sun. When you see young girls that trade themselves for money by the road, especially in the night; you pity them. They expose themselves to a great danger. They are at the mercy of careless vehicle drivers and arm robbers. They may have made a lot of money over time; but they don’t usually have a good life and they don’t end well. A money ritual may even pick them up and use them for his own purpose. That is the experience of such road side traders. Why do you think responsible government does not want to see her citizens trading by the road? The danger is more than the gains.

This new season, I think our location and position are important to God. The road side makes a believer to become the devil’s victim. No Christian can be able to defeat the devil if by the road side. Secondly, the believer will be fruitless, having no fruits to offer the Lord. Our location, position and posture are of great importance to God in this season. Our position can limit us. It can deny us. It can betray us. The tree was good in itself, but it was wrongly located and so it could not bring forth its potential. Remember the seeds are the same, their locations and positions made the whole lot of difference.

Our location, position and posture are of great importance to God in this season.

Dear friend, can I ask you, where do you stand? Let the seeds of God’s word be in you and let it be located in the heart of your heart, where it can find germination and bring forth fruits. It is our duty to see to it that the word of God finds the proper place in our lives and to make sure we understand the word of God. And not just that, we must walk in the light and revelation that the word provides to us per time. These are the days to hold on to God’ word and profit by it. We must ensure that the word of God has the proper place in our lives. Our hearts must be prepared and set to receive God’s word and prosper by it. This month, God’ word will come to us in great power and it will come to stir us up and rekindle a fresh faith and fire in us. We must be prepared and ready to receive the Word and flourish by it. Please make personal and deliberate efforts to get God’s word permeate your inner being and restructure your whole being this new season. It is a season we will go possessing territories and great possessions by faith. And faith will only come by the Word of God.
